Mission & Commitment

NYC leads the nation in arts and culture investment, supporting over 1,000 nonprofit organizations annually. DCLA acknowledges gaps in resource distribution that have generated inequities in access. Specific neighborhoods, often those with larger populations of people of color, have long received less arts and cultural funding. DCLA's racial equity goals focus on equitable funding distribution, culturally specific organizations, building a representative arts workforce, and removing barriers to entry in arts leadership.
