Mission & Commitment

NYC EDC drives economic growth by facilitating commercial development, business attraction and retention, and workforce development. NYC EDC is committed to ensuring that economic development benefits all New Yorkers, particularly communities of color that have been historically excluded from equitable economic opportunity. Goals include supporting manufacturing and industrial sectors in BIPOC communities, expanding M/WBE participation in EDC procurements and projects, and building diverse talent pipelines.

Short-Term Goals

EDC has a 30% goal for M/WBE utilization and will continue to implement and evaluate goals going forward to ensure they are consistent with federal, state, and local law.

Establish a measurement and evaluation data infrastructure system that allows NYCEDC to continuously monitor and evaluate NYCEDC’s impact and performance a. Outcome By 2028, ensure that 100% of applicable divisions build data pipelines that assess internal and external equity, and submit department level equity data annually.
