Mission & Commitment

The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) supports the film, television, music, theater, gaming, and journalism industries. The plan acknowledges significant representation gaps: people of color comprise only 17% of theatrical film directors and 12% of film writers; Latinos account for only 4-7% of on-screen TV/streaming talent; in journalism, 76% of reporting journalists are white. MOME's equity goals address these disparities through workforce pipelines, targeted support for creators of color, and partnerships with culturally specific organizations.

Short-Term Goals

Increase awareness of agency programming in communities of color and immigrant communities to increase engagement with government-supported entertainment programs
