The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) manages NYC's water supply and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and works to protect New Yorkers from environmental hazards including noise and air pollution. DEP's racial equity goals address the disproportionate environmental burdens borne by communities of color, including air quality, flooding, and infrastructure investments. DEP is committed to prioritizing investments in TRIE neighborhoods and building a diverse workforce.
