Mission & Commitment

The Department of Probation (DOP) supervises people who are on probation as a condition of a sentence or as an alternative to incarceration. DOP is committed to reducing recidivism, addressing racial disparities in probation supervision, expanding restorative justice approaches, and connecting people on probation to services and opportunities in their communities. DOP acknowledges the overrepresentation of Black and Latino New Yorkers in the probation population.

Provide ongoing anti-racism, cultural competency, and inclusive supervision training for all DOP staff
