NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM) coordinates the City's response to natural and human-made emergencies. NYCEM acknowledges that communities of color and low-income communities are disproportionately impacted by emergencies and disasters. NYCEM's equity goals address centering equity in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery; expanding language access in emergency communications; building community resilience in TRIE neighborhoods; and ensuring that emergency resources reach the most vulnerable communities (consistent with Community Equity Priority #12).
