Mission & Commitment

The NYC Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) enforces the NYC Human Rights Law, one of the most comprehensive civil rights laws in the nation. CCHR's equity goals include expanding enforcement capacity, increasing outreach to communities most likely to experience discrimination (including communities of color, immigrants, and people with disabilities), improving data collection on discrimination complaints, and ensuring equitable access to legal remedies.

Short-Term Goals

Pursue increased agency visibility, presence, and engagement in communities, focused on Taskforce on Racial Inclusion & Equity (TRIE) neighborhoods and neighborhoods experiencing high levels of bias-related harms

Expand Commission investigations to root out disparate impact discrimination relating to race, color, and national origin in employment and public places
