Mission & Commitment

The Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS) preserves and provides access to New York City's historical and municipal records. DORIS's equity goals include expanding access to archival materials for communities of color, expanding digitization of records related to underrepresented communities, improving language access in records services, and building a more diverse workforce.

Short-Term Goals

Analyze and leverage programming to highlight and uplift the histories of marginalized communities so that DORIS remains vigilant and aware of historical harm and community resilience
