Mission & Commitment

The NYC Law Department represents the City of New York in legal matters and provides legal counsel to all City agencies. The Law Department's equity goals include building an environment that values racial equity and provides colleagues with a greater knowledge of the related theories of justice so that they may apply that knowledge when providing counsel to or defending City agencies. The Law Department is committed to advancing anti-racism training, diversifying its workforce, and ensuring equitable legal processes.
