Mission & Commitment

The Department of Buildings (DOB) oversees the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties in NYC. DOB's racial equity goals address barriers that property owners of color face in navigating the permitting and enforcement systems, ensuring equitable enforcement, building a diverse workforce, and improving access to information and services for all New Yorkers.

Short-Term Goals

Evaluate existing outreach strategies to determine whether and how they need to be modified to more effectively engage with tenants and homeowners in marginalized communities
